Roadside assistance: a few facts, figures and tips
Imagine a stormy winter evening. There’s a car stopped on the shoulder of the highway with a flat front left tire. Leaving family members in the car, the driver gets out and sets about installing the spare as the snow whips down and passing cars whiz by a little too close for comfort.
Although it can feel virtuous to brave the bad weather and save the day, it’s a risky proposition. If you’re a driver, you know that you are liable to face th
is sort of situation anytime. Thank goodness we offer roadside assistance!
Belairdirect roadside assistance: a few numbers
In 2018, tows accounted for 48% of roadside assistance requests, followed by battery boosting (25%). It is estimated that each winter day (December to March), several thousand vehicles require boosting in Canada. The colder season is hard on our cars!
But roughly 20 per cent of battery boosts are requested outside the peak period, between April and November. Remember that time you were distracted and left your headlights on in broad daylight? Well you weren’t alone!
The reason for other calls received by our roadside assistance service? 10% of users needed a tire change, 11% unlocking doors, 4% a winching and 2% a gas or air delivery.
