What to do if my home has been burglarized?

“When theft occurs in your home, it can be a traumatic experience. We understand how it can impact your sense of security, and we will help you recoup your losses as fast as possible. Here’s what you can do if it happens to you.
-Call the police and report the theft right away.
-Try to see if any damage has been done to the inside or outside of your home.
-Call us. Our claims representatives can start your claim and help you decide what to do next.
-If you are renting your home, you should call the owner to let him/her know about the situation, especially if there is damage to the building.
-Your home may need to be secured (if a window or door is broken, for example). If it’s urgent, call a contractor to make the necessary repairs and be sure to get receipts. We can put you in touch with someone from our Rely Network® to do the job for you.
– Try to make a list of the possessions that are missing. Include dates purchased, place of purchase, make and model, serial numbers and any proofs of possession (receipts, pictures, instruction manuals, boxes or account statements).”
