We partnered with Kanetix Ltd., a third-party company whose website, kanetix.ca, provides rate comparisons for several companies that sell car insurance in Quebec. By allowing you to access the kanetix rate comparison table after obtaining your car insurance quote at belairdirect.com, we let you see how an independent, non-insurer, third party company compares our offer against some of the competition. This way, you know you are getting unbiased information that will help you make the right decision.

Why would belairdirect give me access to kanetix® knowing it could provide me with a lower rate from a competitor?
Because we want you to make an informed decision. Price is only one thing you need to consider when comparing car insurance offers. We recommend that you compare the coverage and services offered by our company and others before you make a decision based on price.

What is kanetix®?
Founded by Gregory Ellis and George Small in 1999, Kanetix Ltd. offers Canadian insurance consumers a different way to shop for insurance: comparing insurance quotes from competing insurers online, with up to four quotes on the same website. Kanetix lets consumers compare prices, payment options, discounts and other relevant information that helps them make an informed choice.

Is kanetix an insurance company?
Kanetix is not an insurer. It is a kind of online insurance “supermarket” that aims to provide information and a service that enables consumers to compare quotes. Kanetix works with more than 30 insurance companies across Canada.

What information can I find on the comparative rating table?
Kanetix uses an easy-to-read chart format to compare the insurers and their rates, along with payment options, A.M. Best® rating (an indicator of financial stability), and available discounts, among other pertinent information. In short, you will find all the information you need to choose the insurer that will best meet your needs.

What’s the benefit for me?
You’ll save time: rather than entering your information several times on different web sites or repeating it over the phone, you only have to enter your information once to get your belairdirect quote and up to four other competitive car insurance quotes.
You also can find out insurance rates for different cars: because different cars have different insurance rates, you can see how belairdirect measures up against some of the competition in a number of scenarios. It’s like window shopping with your computer!

Is belairdirect always going to provide the best rate?
No insurance company can always have the best rate. Your car insurance rate is based on many rating criteria such as the make and model of your car, your driving history, and where you live. Every company has different rates and uses different criteria. By getting a car insurance quote at belairdirect.com and then comparing some of our competitors’ rates, you’ll see how our offer measures up in terms of both coverage and premiums. Sometimes belairdirect will have the lowest-priced offer, sometimes we won’t.

I don’t see my current insurance company on the rate comparison table – how come?
Not all insurance companies allow kanetix to access and post their rates. There may also be rating criteria which preclude your company from offering comparative quotes on kanetix.

Are the comparative rates accurate?
The rate comparisons are as accurate as the information you provide us in your belairdirect quote. Kanetix obtains their information directly from member companies who have agreed to be part of the kanetix marketplace. The price that appears on the comparative tables is provided by kanetix under agreements with the participating insurance companies.

Will my personal information be transferred to kanetix or any of the insurance companies that have an agreement with kanetix?
No – your information is not distributed to any of the member companies and is kept in strict confidence by belairdirect. Your information is not sold to any third party and you will not be solicited by kanetix. For more information please see our Privacy Policy.

What should I look for when comparing offers from different insurance companies?
When shopping for car insurance, you need to compare the following:
Coverage and amounts of insurance:
- Third-party liability coverage:(1 million, 2 million?)
- Collision coverage: is it included in the quote, and what is the deductible amount, if any?
- Comprehensive coverage: is it included in the quote, and what is the deductible amount, if any?
- Rental car coverage: if my vehicle is involved in an accident and needs repair, do I have coverage for a rental car and if so, how much?
- Driving Record Protection: some companies offer protection for your car insurance rates and driving record after your first at-fault accident. Do you qualify for this coverage? What happens after your first at-fault accident? How much does this protection cost?
